John Deere 5050E Oil and Filter Problems

Check Oil Level

  • Park the JD 5050E tractor on a flat plot and turn off the engine.
  • Remove the key.
  • Remove the measuring rod from the engine oil.
  • The oil level must be between the two marks of the rod.
  • If the level is low, it adds oil through the oil filling hole until it is at the level of the top mark.
  • Do not fill in excess. Use seasonal viscosity degree oil.
  • Do not operate the engine with the oil level below the lower mark of the rod.

Change Oil and Filter

  • Maintenance interval: initial – 100 hours, regular – 250 hours.
  • Change the engine oil every 125 hours if the diesel fuel has a high sulfur content.
  • The engine oil and the filter should be changed at least once a year.
  • Run the engine to heat the oil. Park the JD 5050E tractor in a flat plot and turn off the engine.
  • Remove the key.
  • Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil.
  • Open the hood.
  • Remove the engine oil filter.
  • Apply an oil film to the new oil filter board and install the new filter.
  • Hand tighten more 1/2 turn.
  • Install the drain plug.
  • Add oil to the tank.
  • Engine crankcase oil capacity – 8.5L (9 qt).
  • Start the engine and inspect the drain plug and the filter for leaks.
  • Stop the engine and remove the key.
  • Re-check the oil level and add oil if necessary.
  • Lower the hood.

Entire hydraulic system fails to function

  • All the hydraulic system does not work
  • Hydraulic oil overheats
  • Under oil supply – fill the system with the correct oil.
  • Hydraulic filter of clogged transmission – Replace the filter.
  • Hydraulic filter of clogged transmission – Clean the collection filter.
