Insufficient transport clearance

Hitch drops slowly

The dipper fall speed control is not adjusted properly – Adjust the fall speed control.

JD 5050D Hitch fails to lift or lifts slowly

  • Hydraulic oil too cold – Allow oil to warm up.
  • Transmission hydraulic oil filter clogged – Replace filter.
  • Transmission hydraulic oil filter clogged – Clean or replace the pickup filter.

Implement will not operate at desired depth

  • Lift links too short – Adjust lift links.
  • Lack of Penetration – See implement operator’s manual.
  • Incorrect position stop adjustment – Readjust position stop.
  • Improper Pull Lever Adjustment – Adjust wheel axle and 3-point hitch.

Insufficient or no hitch response to draft load

  • Effort Control Lever Off – Move lever rearward.
  • The lift arms are too short – Adjust the lift arms.
  • Lack of Penetration – See implement operator’s manual.
  • Fall speed too slow – Adjust fall speed valve.

Hitch too responsive

  • Center Arm Front Hitch is in Lower Bracket Holes – Move Center Arm Hitch to Upper Bracket Holes.
  • Incorrect adjustment of the effort sensor – Move the lever forward.

Hitch drops too fast

  • Falling speed setting too fast – Adjust falling speed.
  • Friction discs are loose – Adjust the friction on the rocker shaft control lever.
